MARYSVILLE, Wash. (AP) — A 6-year-old boy who died after a float plane crashed and flipped upon landing in Lake Goodwin near Marysville has been identified.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner on Monday said Jacob Jeter of Anacortes died of drowning.

The Daily Herald reports the boy was a first-grader at Fidalgo Elementary School in Anacortes.

His 55-year-old father was piloting the plane Saturday. He was able to escape from the float plane after it flipped upside down, but the boy was trapped inside.

Rescue divers pulled the child from the plane and he was rushed to an Everett hospital, where he later died.

The float plane was hoisted from the lake Monday afternoon. Investigators are trying to determine cause of the crash.
