LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — The IOC says it has “no doubt” that Russia will deliver a safe Winter Olympics in 2014 despite the security concerns raised by the Moscow airport attack that killed 35 people.

The International Olympic Committee tells The Associated Press that security at the Sochi Games is “a top priority.”

The committee says “security is the responsibility of the local authorities, and we have no doubt that the Russian authorities will be up to the task.”

The IOC says “the games are a celebration of peace. We look forward to that spirit being respected in 2014.”

The attack Monday by a suicide bomber at Domodedovo Airport also left more than 100 people injured.

No claims of responsibility were made.
