Mukilteo schools considering cell phone policy

MUKILTEO, Wash. (AP) — The Mukilteo School Board considers a policy at its Monday night meeting that would allow principals to search a student’s cell phone for sexually explicit photos or bullying messages.

The Daily Herald reports the policy follows suggestions made by the Washington State School Directors Association.

District spokesman Andy Muntz says principals would make a cell phone search on a reasonable suspicion, much as they may now search student backpacks.
