Police said on Monday two violent episodes in central Vancouver over the weekend don’t appear to be related, but both were believed to have gang ties.

On Saturday night, a man and woman were victims of a drive-by shooting in the 2000 block of Todd Road. The next night, a 19-year-old man was stabbed at a bus stop in the vicinity of East Mill Plain Boulevard and Garrison Road.

“Patrol’s initial response is that they didn’t appear to be connected,” Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said Monday.

Kapp declined to offer more details on the incidents.

The shooting happened at 9:07 p.m. Saturday. The man was found on Todd Road but the woman was discovered in the 2000 block of nearby Brandt Road. Police believe she was shot on Todd Road and walked to nearby Brandt to get help.

The shooting victims are still hospitalized. The male, 18, is in serious condition; the female, 15, is stable. Names were not released.

Police have said the 18-year-old’s injuries were possibly life-threatening. No information on either a suspect or a vehicle has been released.

The other violent incident saw a man stabbed at a bus stop near Garrison Square shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday. He went to the parking lot of a Starbucks coffee shop at 8086 E. Mill Plain Boulevard to seek help. The stabbing victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Police on Sunday described one stabbing suspect as a male in his late teens, 5 foot 10 inches, 160 pounds, with a mustache, wearing a dark colored baseball cap and blue checkered shirt. The other suspect is described as a male in his late teens, 5 foot 6 inches, thin to medium build, dark hair, wearing a dark colored sweatshirt.
