OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Washington state Rep. Mary Lou Dickerson of Seattle has introduced a bill that would allow the sale of marijuana in state liquor stores.

She compares pot to Prohibition and told KING-TV it’s time to take marijuana out of the hands of criminals, regulate it, and tax it like alcohol. The bill also calls for the state to license marijuana growers.

Critics say the bill would increase marijuana use among teens and could lead to harder drug use.

Attorney General Rob McKenna’s office says it will oppose the bill.
