CS Bakersfield edges Cal State Fullerton 77-75

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — Alex Johnson scored 20 points and Cal State Bakersfield repelled a late charge to defeat Cal State Fullerton 77-75 Tuesday night.

Donald Johnson added a season-high 16 points and Donavan Bragg 15 for the Roadrunners (9-11), who broke a six-game losing streak. Rashad Savage grabbed 10 rebounds

Devon Peltier scored 23 points to lead the Titans (8-13) in the nonconference game. Jer’Vaughn Johnson added 19 points and nine rebounds, and Orlando Brown scored 10.

Bakersfield won despite leading scorer Stephon Carter going 0-for-15. Carter hit 7 of 8 free throws and had seven assists.

The Titans fought back from a 42-31 halftime deficit to tie at 71. Carter sank two free throws to put the Roadrunners up 77-73, but Isiah Umipig cut it to 77-75 with 8 seconds left.

Fullerton had a final chance, but Orane Chin missed a spinning jumper in the lane as the horn sounded.
