KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) — Zach Filzen hit five 3-pointers among his 19 points to pace Buffalo to a 79-68 victory over Western Michigan on Tuesday night.

Dave Barnett and Javon McCrea both went 5-for-6, Barnett scoring 16 points and McCrea 12, as the Bulls (12-6, 4-2 Mid-American Conference) won their fourth in a row. Byron Mulkey added 11 points and Mitchell Watt 10 for Buffalo, which shot 56.3 percent (27 of 48).

Three Western Michigan players scored 21 apiece and accounted for all but five points by the Broncos (10-9, 3-3).

Demetrius Ward, Flenard Whitfield and Juwan Howard Jr. each scored 21. Ward hit nine baskets, Whitfield nine free throws and Howard three 3-pointers. Whitfield also had a game-high nine rebounds.

After Ward tied it at 42 with 17:45 left, Mulkey sandwiched baskets around one from Barnett to put Buffalo ahead to stay at 48-42. The lead never fell below five after that.
