A Vancouver man was arrested on suspicion of robbery Tuesday evening about 10 minutes after he fled a Chevron gas station in Hazel Dell with an unspecified amount of cash.

A female clerk at the gas station and convenience store, 610 N.E. 99th St., reported being robbed at about 6:20 p.m. by a man who used a note and claimed to have a gun. A sergeant with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office’s Tactical Investigations Unit who was searching the area took Robert Blevins, 29, into custody at about 6:31 p.m., said Sgt. Randon Walker.

Blevins was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery after he was positively identified by video surveillance and the clerk.

“The suspect was found to have almost the identical amount of money stolen from the store,” Walker said.

Blevins was not armed when he was taken into custody, Walker said. A sheriff’s sergeant caught Blevins north of the Win-Co parking lot located east of Interstate 5.
