DAVOS, Switzerland (AP) — Russian President Dmitry Medvedev says attackers behind the deadly Moscow airport blast wanted to bring Russia “to its knees.”

Medvedev told government and corporate leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, that the attack “only strengthens our resolve to find an effective international protection against terror.”

He said Wednesday that the attackers wanted to “bring Russia to its knees” and thwart his plans to come to Davos to give the keynote speech and seek international investment. He said they “miscalculated” and he listed reasons that Russia is still a good place to do business.

The bombing Monday killed 35 people and injured more than 100, and threatens to unsettle investors by underlining Russia’s persistent security problems.
