Missouri State finds way past Drake, 73-70

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Kyle Weems scored 18 points, Will Creekmore added a double-double and Missouri State edged Drake 73-70 Tuesday night.

Creekmore finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds and Adam Leonard had 12 points for the Bears (17-4, 9-1 Missouri Valley), who have won 11 of 12.

Ryan Wedel led the Bulldogs (8-13, 3-7) with 21 points. Kurt Alexander scored 13, and Ben Simons added 12.

Trailing 62-61 with 2:54 remaining, Missouri State scored the next seven points to take its largest lead, 68-62 with 43 seconds to play. Drake rallied to make it 71-70 with 7 seconds remaining before Nafis Ricks hit two free throws and Rayvonte Rice missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The game was close throughout. Neither team led by more than seven, and there were 16 lead changes and six ties.
