ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Phillip McDonald hit a season-high six 3-pointers in scoring 20 points Wednesday night to help New Mexico to a 71-46 victory over TCU.

Five of McDonald’s long-range shots came during a 7:37 stretch sandwiched around halftime. His baseline jumper started the barrage with 4:48 remaining in the first half, breaking a 19-19 tie.

McDonald quickly followed with two more 3-pointers in the 15-6 run that left New Mexico (14-7, 2-4 Mountain West) leading 34-25 at the break.

Hank Thorns led the Horned Frogs (10-12, 1-6) with 11 points. TCU played without leading scorer Ronnie Moss, who did not make the trip for an undisclosed reason.

The Lobos’ Drew Gordon contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double in the past five games.
