Northeastern holds off UNC-Wilmington 70-66

WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) — Chaisson Allen scored 20 points and Jonathan Lee added 17 to lead Northeastern over North Carolina-Wilmington 70-66 on Wednesday night.

The Huskies (6-15, 2-8 Colonial Athletic Association) led 64-56 with 3:20 left before a layup from Ahmad Grant sparked an 8-0 run by the Seahawks, tying the score at 64 with 1:56 remaining.

UNC Wilmington (10-11, 4-6) went 1 for 4 from the field and Lee made all six of his free-throw attempts in the final 1:42 to seal the win for Northeastern, which has won two straight following a nine-game losing streak.

Chad Tomko scored 23 points, Grant added 13 and Keith Rendleman 10 for the Seahawks.

The Huskies shot 52.4 percent from the floor (22 of 42), including 9 of 20 from 3-point range (45 percent) and 89.5 percent from the free-throw line (17 of 19).

Joel Smith added 14 points for Northeastern.
