BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) — Police in Eastern Oregon have identified a man found dead in a car in the town of Sumpter after he suffered gunshot wound.

The Baker City Herald reports the Baker County district attorney’s office identified the man as 39-year-old Travis Weems of Hermiston.

The Baker County Major Crime Team was searching the Sumpter area for Daniel Myers, who was described by the district attorney’s office as “a person of interest.”

Authorities described Myers as about 55, 6 feet, 200 pounds with gray scruffy hair and possibly a moustache and goatee.

Julie McKinney, Sumpter city recorder, said a police command post has been set up at City Hall in the town of about 170 residents southwest of Baker City to coordinate the investigation.
