HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) — James Johnson scored a career-high 38 points to load Quinnipiac to a 69-61 win over Robert Morris on Thursday night, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Johnson finished 7 of 13 from 3-point range as the Bobcats (13-7, 5-4 Northeast Conference) avenged last season’s two-point loss, 52-50, to the Colonials in the NEC Tournament Championship.

Deontay Twyman added 14 points for Quinnipiac, which led by at least two points throughout and by as many as 13.

Robert Morris (9-11, 5-4) shot just 20 for 57 from the field (35.1 percent), including 4 of 23 from beyond the arc (17.4 percent).

Velton Jones scored 18 points — 14 coming on free throws — and Karon Abraham added 10.

Ike Azotam grabbed 11 rebounds and Justin Rutty had 10 for the Bobcats, who outrebounded the Colonials 43-37. Rutty, Quinnipiac’s second-leading scorer at 15.7 points per game, scored only six points.
