Talk about feeling you’re at a meat market. Jake Locker was actually on stage at the Mobile (Ala.) Convention Center in nothing more than black spandex shorts on Monday, getting measured as part of the Senior Bowl.

It was the poke-and-prod portion of the NFL, when the league’s 32 teams get to inspect the merchandise before April’s draft.

At Monday’s practice, Locker had a pass intercepted and made several errant throws. Tuesday, he looked better, as often is the case on the second day when the quarterbacks and receivers actually know each other a bit.

Locker can throw on the run, but it’s all about what he can do in the pocket, plus how well he can read defenses. When Locker tries to muscle in a throw on a curl or load up on a fastball, he’s prone to throwing high.

Ironically, there are about 500 NFL talent evaluators at the Senior Bowl practices, but most just want to watch the first three days of workouts and won’t stay for the game.

Talking Points checked three mock NFL drafts and found Locker at No. 12 to Minnesota, No. 15 to Miami and not taken in the first round. Vikings coach said last week he is interested in finding the next Matt Ryan or Joe Flacco this offseason.

More about Seattle quarterbacks, at least potential Seahawk quarterbacks. The blogosphere is full of quick-fix solutions for the Seahawks QB situation.

Two of the latest: acquire either Carson Palmer or Vince Young.

Neither makes any more sense than turning over the offense to Charlie Whitehurst. How about signing Matt Hasselbeck for one more season and figure out a succession plan for quarterback?
