Sheriff’s deputies converged in Orchards on Friday afternoon, hoping to spot a bank robber, but the man escaped.

About 3:30 p.m., the man walked into the Chase Bank branch inside the Fred Meyer at Northeast 117th Avenue and 76th Street, said Sgt. Tony Barnes with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

The man demanded some cash, put it in his pocket, left the store and ran east toward a large field.

Barnes said he was told no weapon was seen.

The bandit was described as white, with brown hair, in his 30s, 5 feet 9 inches tall and with a pock-marked face. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
