DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Tony Stewart is not backing down from his promise to wreck any driver who blocks him on the track.

If that costs Stewart a spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship, he said so be it.

Stewart spun Brian Vickers last week because he believed Vickers was blocking him on the track. Vickers retaliated later in the race by intentionally wrecking Stewart.

Stewart had a car capable of contending for the win, but finished 39th. It dropped him to 12th in the standings.

A calm Stewart reiterated Friday that regardless of the consequences, he will not tolerate being blocked.

And, he promised to wreck the car enough that the next driver won’t be able to come back on the track to retaliate.
