Three honored by parks foundation

Columbia Way — Three recipients of the first Florence B. Wager Awards were honored at the June 14 Parks Foundation Annual Luncheon.

John Garofalo was awarded the 2011 V-Formation Flyer Award in honor of more than 20 years of commitment and dedication to the Vancouver Tennis Center.

Garofalo was instrumental in the development of the Vancouver Tennis Center Foundation, and will be chairman of this year’s major fundraising event.

Debbi Hanson, Director of Battle Ground Parks and Recreation, received the 2011 Tributary Award.

Hanson developed fitness and exercise programs for seniors, established a summer playground program and created community-wide holiday events and programs.

Ridgefield Mayor Ron Onslow received the 2011 Leading Eagle award for his work in support of parks, community gardens, trails and tree plantings.
