MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) — The Skagit County coroner says an autopsy indicates that a 61-year-old transient whose body was found in the Skagit River near a Mount Vernon, Wash., park was a drowning victim.

The Skagit Valley Herald says the body of Jose Jimenez II was discovered by a city parks department employee on Sunday about 50 feet downstream from the Memorial Highway bridge, near Edgewater Park.

Coroner Daniel Dempsey says an autopsy was conducted Tuesday.

Police are still investigating how Jimenez ended up in the river.
