CANYONVILLE, Ore. (AP) — A spokesman for firefighters battling a wildfire burning in 88 acres in southwestern Oregon says the fire was fully contained by 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Douglas Forest Protective Association spokesman Tom Fields says the fire crews spent Wednesday early evening putting out so-called hot spots.
No serious injuries have been reported. Beals Creek is about 25 miles southeast of Roseburg.
Fields says the fire is burning in steep, rugged, logged-over private land and has burned into some younger trees. No structures are threatened.
The fire season started late in Oregon after a wet spring this year, and Fields says the Beals Creek blaze is southwest Oregon’s first major fire of the year.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
