SALEM, Ore. (AP) — The Oregon Public Employees Retirement System says the last of the July pension checks should reach recipients this week and a computer error has been fixed so the August 1 payments should go out correctly.
The error misdirected about $250 million in July pension checks to retiree’s savings accounts instead of checking accounts. About 108,000 retirees were affected.
The Statesman Journal reports officials found out about the error last week and began notifying banks. Some rerouted the money to checking accounts but a few banks rejected the transaction.
