WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — The Winnipeg Jets have signed captain Andrew Ladd to a five-year contract extension worth $22 million.
Ladd agreed to the deal Tuesday, a few hours before he was eligible to file for salary arbitration.
The contract had been in the works since the Atlanta Thrashers moved to Winnipeg at the end of May.
The 25-year-old Ladd had a career-high 29 goals and 59 points for the Thrashers last season. He is a two-time Stanley Cup champion and made $2.35 million last season.
