WACO, Texas (AP) — Prominent Oklahoma State booster T. Boone Pickens will be honored by the American Football Coaches Foundation as the winner of its CEO Coach of the Year Award.

Pickens, who has donated about $250 million to the renovation of the Cowboys’ football stadium that bears his name, will be presented the award on Dec. 12 at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.

Speaking Wednesday, AFCF executive director Grant Teaff says Pickens has shown he believes strongly that “all departments within a university must be successful, including the athletic department.” In addition to his gifts to athletics, Pickens has donated hundreds of millions of dollars to academics at OSU.

Funds raised from the awards dinner go toward education initiatives through the American Football Coaches Association’s publications, website and national convention.
