Snohomish officials think missing camper drowned

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — The Snohomish County sheriff’s office says a missing Edmonds camper apparently fell into an east county creek and died.

Deputies found the campsite for 37-year-old Michael Antonelli on Tuesday near the Boulder Lake trailhead, a few feet away from a 20-foot dropoff to Elk Creek. Deputies found evidence that the edge gave way and he landed in the creek, which is running high and fast.

Antonelli went camping Saturday and was reported overdue Monday by his girlfriend after he failed to return.

The sheriff’s office says it will use a helicopter to look for his body in the next few days. His dog is also missing.
