SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say a woman is in an Oregon jail charged with second-degree attempted murder for giving an elderly Utah man a peach smoothie spiked with antifreeze.

Police in Vernal, Utah, say 33-year-old Selena Irene York was arrested Tuesday in Eugene, Ore.

Court records indicate York and her daughter were living in Vernal with then-78-year-old Edward Zurbuchen in 2008. Police say he nearly died after York bought the fruit smoothie from a nearby store, dumped half of it out then filled the rest with antifreeze before he drank it.

Court records indicate York confessed to police detectives recently after being confronted with information provided by a jilted boyfriend.

It was not immediately clear if York had an attorney or when she would be transported back to Utah to face state charges.
