SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- Firefighters and a Marion County sheriff's deputy responded to a smoke-filled home in Salem Wednesday afternoon and found a woman dead.
Carolyn Thomas was found by her husband when he arrived home from work to a smoke-filled house.
Police say Thomas' husband made the 911 call and there was no one else in the home at the time.
Neighbors told the Statesman Journal a married couple lived in the rental home. A chaplain comforted the man.
An autopsy for Thomas was scheduled for Thursday.
