Indians call up RHP Zach McAllister to start



CLEVELAND (AP) — Right-hander Zach McAllister is in Cleveland and will start for the Indians against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Infielder Cord Phelps was optioned to Triple-A Columbus to make roster room for McAllister, a 23-year-old who will be making his big-league debut Thursday.

McAllister, acquired from the New York Yankees in August as a player to be named in an previous deal for outfielder Austin Kearns, was 8-3 with a 2.93 ERA this year at Columbus.

Phelps hit .196 with one home run in 19 games for Cleveland after being called up June 8.
