OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The Omaha Nighthawks have added Maurice Clarett to the active roster.
The United Football League team announced the move Thursday.
Clarett spent last season with the team, calling it a chance to rebuild his life. The former Ohio State star was suspended by the NCAA for taking improper inducements, failed to make it in the NFL, then spent 3 1/2 years in prison for having a hidden gun and holding up two people outside a Columbus, Ohio, bar in 2006.
Clarett spent most of last season backing up Ahman Green as he got back into shape. The Nighthawks finished 3-5 after losing its last four games.
