BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Top-seeded Roberta Vinci of Italy rallied to defeat Zuzana Kucova 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-3 and reach the semifinals of the Budapest Grand Prix on Friday.
Vinci, who overcame two match points at 2-5 in the second set, will face third-seeded Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic. She defeated Kateryna Bondarenko 6-0, 6-4.
Second-seeded Sara Errani of Italy retired because of leg cramps in the third set against Anabel Medina Garrigues, who was ahead 4-6, 7-5, 3-0.
Medina Garrigues’ rival in the other semifinal will be Irina-Camelia Begu of Romania. She cruised past qualifier Estrella Cabeza Candela 6-0, 6-3.
