Istanbul to bid for 2020 Olympics

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) -- Turkey's sports minister says Istanbul will bid for the 2020 Olympics.
Suat Kilic tells CNN-Turk television in an interview Wednesday that Turkey is ready to meet all the requirements for hosting the games.
He says Turkey enjoys political stability and relatively stable economy.
Istanbul has mounted several previous unsuccessful Olympic bids.
Madrid announced its 2020 candidacy Wednesday. Rome has already declared its bid, and Tokyo is expected to confirm its candidacy this week.
The IOC will select the 2020 host city in 2013.
