KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — The minor league Richmond Kickers are still alive in the U.S. Open Cup, advancing to the semifinals with a 2-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City of MLS on Tuesday night.

After a long lightning delay in the second half, Shaka Bangura and David Bulow scored for Richmond in the quarterfinal match. Sporting Kansas City lost for the first time in new Livestrong Sporting Park.

Richmond, which plays in the third-tier USL Pro, will face the Chicago Fire in the semifinals on Aug. 30. The Kickers have beaten two MLS teams in the tournament.

Bulow assisted on Bangura’s 66th-minute goal, seconds after play resumed following an 82-minute delay, and added a penalty kick in the 83rd.

Kickers keeper Ronnie Pascale made five saves, including several down the stretch.
