PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Some cabbies in Portland say they’re losing fares to other cabbies who tip hotel doormen.
The city’s Private For-Hire Transportation Board of Review votes Wednesday on whether to ban the practice. If it passes it would go to the city council for a vote in September. Violators could face a $1,500 fine.
The Oregonian reports few cabbies or doormen admit to the practice but all said it’s common knowledge.
