Seattle council moving to regulate marijuana
Tuesday, July 12, 2011
SEATTLE (AP) -- The Seattle City Council is scheduled to vote Wednesday on rules for medical marijuana operations.
A law that was partially vetoed in May by Gov. Chris Gregoire is forcing dispensaries to shift to collective garden co-ops.
The Seattle Times reports that Seattle is one of the few cities in Washington working on marijuana regulations. After Gregoire's veto, most cities have moved to ban or halt medical marijuana operations. Kent police raided four dispensaries last week after the city council passed a moratorium.
