SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn would like to see some bars in the city open all night.
He told a news conference Thursday that extended hours would ease the problems of noise and drunken behavior that sometimes spill into the streets at the 2 a.m. closing.
McGinn also said extended hours would accommodate diverse urban lifestyles and cater to conventioneers and other visitors.
A Seattle City Council committee will hear a resolution on July 19 on a rule change application to the state Liquor Control Board. McGinn hopes to have extended service hours in effect for Seattle nightlife in 2012.
