PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Police say they have found remains in their search of a Portland hill for a slain teenager. But they say it may take a few days to make a positive identification.

The teenager, Yashanee Vaughn, has been missing since March. A 16-year-old boyfriend has been accused of murder and is in custody.

The police searched Rocky Butte in northeast Portland beginning at daybreak Friday. It’s only blocks from the house where the police believe the 14-year-old was killed.

The chief deputy district attorney has confirmed that the suspect’s lawyers, the judge in the case and prosecutors had a settlement conference earlier this week.
