China leads women’s 10-meter synchro prelims

SHANGHAI (AP) — China was the leading qualifier in women’s 10-meter synchronized platform diving at the world championships.

The duo of Wang Hao and Chen Ruolin totaled 335.34 points in the five-dive preliminaries on Monday.

Australians Alexandra Croak and Melissa Wu were second at 303.66. Germany’s Christin Steuer and Nora Subschinski qualified third at 292.56.

The top 12 teams advanced to the final later Monday, including Americans Anna James and Mary Beth Dunnichay, who were ninth.

China has led after every qualifying session in diving since the meet began on Saturday, and its divers have won two gold medals so far.
