Chuck’s Produce plans second Clark County store
Location would target Salmon Creek, Hazel Dell shoppers

Organic grocer Chuck’s Produce and Street Market has submitted plans for a second Vancouver store, this time on the west side near the Salmon Creek Bridge.
Clark County planners have scheduled an Aug. 4 conference to discuss the proposed 44,000-square-foot grocery store, planned for four acres on the northeast corner of Northeast Highway 99 and 117th Street. The development also calls for additional retail space of 5,000 to 15,000 square feet.
The site sold in May, according to county records, which have not been updated to list the selling price or the property’s new owner. Donald M. Robbins of North Bend, Ore., is the previous owner of the tract. It is zoned for commercial development
Chuck’s Produce opened its first store in October in the former Joe’s sporting goods store at 13215 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd. in east Vancouver.
That store’s site is owned by Mill Plain LLC, a limited liability corporation affiliated with Vancouver-based Harvest Developments LLC. The group also owns the former Evergreen Airport, a 59-acre tract situated cater-corner to the Mill Plain store.

Residents of west Vancouver in the Hazel Dell and Salmon Creek areas have said the area lacks grocery stores along Highway 99 between 78th and 134th streets.
Within the 56-block stretch, there are two Fred Meyer grocery/variety stores, two Safeway stores, a WinCo Foods store and a Walmart SuperCenter store.
Portland-based organic grocery store New Seasons has also considered locating in west Vancouver. The company plans to open its first east Vancouver store this fall in a former Albertsons at Southeast 164th Avenue and McGillivray Boulevard.
