SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Investigators say a 19-year-old parolee shot to death by San Francisco police was wanted for questioning in the Washington state shooting death of a pregnant woman.
Police Chief Greg Suhr says the man, whose name is being withheld, fired at officers during a foot chase Saturday afternoon in the Bayview-Hunters Point area. The officers had tried to cite him for Muni light-rail fare evasion.
The San Francisco Chronicle says the man had recently been released from a prison in Washington after serving time for convictions stemming from a King County sex offense.
Suhr says Seattle police detectives were seeking him as a person of interest in last week's killing of 19-year-old Tanaya Gilbert and her unborn child. Three others were injured in that shooting.
