GRANITE FALLS, Wash. (AP) — The Snohomish County sheriff’s office is investigating the deaths of two people found along the Mountain Loop Highway east of Granite Falls.

Spokeswoman Rebecca Hover tells KOMO-TV that the bodies were found late Tuesday morning by campers in the Red Bridge Campground in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.

Forest spokeswoman Renee Bodine says someone reported the deaths to the Verlot public service center.

In 2006, two hikers were found fatally shot on the Pinnacle Lake Trail in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. The deaths of 56-year-old Mary Cooper and 27-year-old Susanna Stodden have not been solved.
