Diamondbacks call up top reliever Cook from Mobile

PHOENIX (AP) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks have called up their top relieving prospect Ryan Cook from Double-A Mobile.

The team says it has selected the contract of the 24-year-old right-hander, whose fastball approaches triple digits. Cook was 1-4 with a 2.25 ERA in 34 games with Mobile, striking out 50 and walking 14. He converted 13 of 16 save opportunities.

Arizona also recalled 23-year-old right-hander Bryan Shaw from Triple-A Reno in a further attempt to bolster the team's recently shaky bullpen.

The Diamondbacks outrighted right-handed reliever Yhency Brazoban to Reno and optioned right-hander Barry Enright to the Triple-A club.

Enright was brought up to start Tuesday night against Milwaukee but was shelled for six runs on seven hits in three innings in an 11-3 loss.
