BELLEVUE, Wash. (AP) -- The Washington State Patrol is investigating a multi-vehicle pileup on westbound Interstate 90 in the Bellevue area that critically injured a 9-year-old girl and caused a six-mile traffic backup.
Sgt. Keith Trowbridge says the chain reaction started shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday with a tractor-trailer rig and a loaded logging truck. A State Patrol report says eventually a dozen passenger vehicles were involved as well.
The Seattle Times says the critically injured child was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where her condition was unchanged Wednesday evening. Hospital spokeswoman Susan Gregg says six other people with minor injuries were treated and released.
