COLVILLE, Wash. (AP) — The Stevens County sheriff says a 26-year-old man has been arrested in the shooting death of a 63-year-old Colville, Wash.-area, homeowner.
Sheriff Kendle Allen said Thursday that Eric Lee Booth of Colville has been arrested for investigation of second-degree murder in the Sunday night death of Gordon Feist. Allen says investigators think a burglar encountered Feist and told a story of a car running out of gas. The sheriff says Feist apparently grabbed a gas can and was driving toward the road in a golf cart when the stranger shot him, causing the cart to crash into a utility pole.
Investigators put out the word that the gunman likely suffered facial injuries in the crash. The Spokesman-Review says state prison officials working a separate case encountered a man with similar facial injuries and passed along the information.
