Thursday, July 21, 2011
FINLEY, Wash. (AP) -- Benton County officials say an 800-acre wildfire that burned wheat and range land in Finley was most likely started by fireworks.
The fire investigation continues and Detective Eric Magnuson says they haven't determined if the fire was intentionally set or who was responsible for Wednesday's blaze.
The Tri-City Herald reports about 300 acres of wheat and 500 acres of dry grassland was burned, causing nearly $100,000 in damage.
It took about 100 firefighters from multiple agencies around the Tri-Cities to extinguish the fire that started around 4:30 p.m.
