COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. (AP) — Steal a pickup truck in Oregon. Check.
Drive it across the border into Washington. Check.
Park it across the street from the College Place, Wash., police department. Oops.
College Place Police Chief Dennis Lepiane tells the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin it was only about a half hour after police received word that a pickup stolen in Umatilla County, Ore., might be headed for Washington when one of his officers saw a vehicle matching that description. It was parked across the street from City Hall, home of the police department.
Officers confirmed it was the right vehicle, then confronted an 18-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy, who fled through an apartment complex. Both were arrested Thursday after a foot chase. The 18-year-old was taken to jail and the younger teen was placed in juvenile detention.
