SEATTLE (AP) — Authorities say eight people have been injured in a shooting at a crowded shopping center in Kent, Wash.

Kent Fire Department spokesman Lt. Pat Pawlak tells The Associated Press that seven people were taken to the hospital Saturday after the shooting at a low rider car show at La Plaza shopping center on Pacific Highway.

Pawlak says a total of eight people were injured. One man did not want to go to the hospital. He didn’t have further details.

Adriana Velazquez, a manager at a Los Cabos Mexican Restaurant in the shopping center, says she saw two people on the ground after the shooting. She says that she didn’t hear the gunshots but was told by an off-duty police officer dining at the restaurant to hide in the back of the restaurant along with patrons.

She says people rushed to the restaurant’s front door and knocked to get in but that they couldn’t open the doors.
