Ore. climber killed on Beacon Rock in Wash.



STEVENSON, Wash. (AP) — A 30-year-old man from Portland, Ore., has been killed at a popular rock climbing spot in southwestern Washington.

Skamania County sheriff’s officials say the man fell more than 100 feet from Beacon Rock late Sunday afternoon. He and his partner were rappelling down the south route at the time.

The man’s name was being withheld as authorities tried to notify his family.
