ST. LOUIS (AP) — Lance Berkman has a sore right shoulder and is not in the St. Louis Cardinals’ lineup against the Houston Astros, although manager Tony La Russa expects the outfielder will be back Tuesday.
Berkman was batting .462 with five home runs and 12 RBIs in 26 at-bats against his old team heading into a four-game series against Houston. He had spent his entire career with Houston before getting traded to the Yankees last July.
La Russa wasn’t certain Monday how Berkman was hurt. Jon Jay started in right field.
