Hazel Dell Metro had split results Sunday in Babe Ruth state championship games.
The HDM 13s won the state title at Chehalis, defeating Centralia 7-2.
Avery Schmidt went 4 for 5 and pitched, scattering six hits over six innings.
They advance to the Babe Ruth Pacific Northwest Regional at Kennewick beginning July 31.
The HDM 15s fell in its state title game, also to Centralia, 6-3.
As host to the regional tournament, HDM was already guaranteed a spot, and Centralia was also already in the tournament. It begins on July 31 at Propstra Stadium.
Centralia scored all its runs in the seventh inning to secure the victory.
Joining HDM and Centralia will be Midland, which won the third-place game over Kalama-Woodland-Ridgefield-La Center (KWRL) 13-12.
Midland and KWRL committing a combined 10 errors and tallied 28 hits.
Leading 12-10 with one out in the bottom of the seventh with Midland runners at second and third, KWRL made an error on a ground ball at third, allowing the tying two runs to score.
Two batters later, Midland’s Sean Miller singled into right field to secure the victory.
