Rose Village — Six members of Christian Youth Theater partnered with Clark County Homegrown Gardens to install raised beds in the Rose Village neighborhood. The volunteers laid cardboard as a weed barrier and constructed wooden frames to enclose five beds. They layered coffee grounds, shredded paper, grass clippings and leaves using the lasagna gardening technique to create the planting medium for the gardens. Finally, they topped the beds with soil and installed a string grid to prepare for planting with the techniques of square foot gardening.

These beds and all the supplies needed to plant them are now available to income qualified households by contacting Kris Potter at 360-695-5627 or familygardening@gmail.com.
