Ridgefield — The Ridgefield Lions Club was recognized in early July for its contributions to feed the hungry. Out of thousands of entries for the International Beacon award, the Ridgefield group made the top three at the International Convention. The Lion’s recognition is due to generous contributions for disaster relief in Japan; Joplin, Mo., and Zigzag, Ore. The club also works with the Walk and Knock program and supports Neighbors Helping Neighbors food bank.

The Ridgefield Lions donated nearly $60,000 during 2010-2011 for scholarships. To learn about the Lions, join or volunteer go to http://www.ridgefieldlions.org.
